According to new reports, investigations into the murder, rape and mutilation of 8 year old girl, Victory Chikamso in Rivers state, by the University of Port Harcourt UNIPORT undergraduate, Ifeanyi Dike on the 18th of August, has taken a new twist as the Rivers state Commissioner for Police on Monday ordered the arrest of a Divisional Police Officer over the escape of Ifeanyi who is still on the run on the 19th of August.
Recall that Ifeanyi was arrested on Saturday, 18th of August, while trying to dispose of the body of the deceased whom he had raped, killed and cut off vital organs of her body for the purpose of using it for money rituals. He was immediately taken into custody at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt but escaped from detention on Sunday.
Following the development, a police officer, named Johnbosco Okoroeze, who was in charge of the detention when Ifeanyi fled has been reportedly dismissed and also charged to court on two counts of obstruction of justice and conspiracy.
According to new report, investigations so far carried out by the police, revealed that the arrested Divisional Police Officer had a long telephone conversation with the dismissed police officer just before the suspect escaped, therefore the police says the DPO has some explanation to make.
While Ifeanyi, the prime suspect is still at large, the man who allegedly sent him to kill and get body parts for rituals, that was arrested his still in police custody.
